Arsenal & Barca monitor Rashford – Saturday’s gossip

Arsenal and Barcelona are circling Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as the Premier League’s final transfer window twist takes shape. The 28-year-old’s future remains unsettled at Old Trafford, with two elite clubs monitoring his situation as the deadline approaches. Manchester United have not ruled out letting Rashford leave this summer, per Teamtalk, and the England forward’s long-term role under Erik ten Hag has come under renewed scrutiny following a mixed start to the season. Arsenal have emerged as the most credible Premier League destination, with Mikel Arteta’s side seeking to bolster their attacking options before the window shuts.

Rashford’s exit door creaks open as Arsenal and Barça circle

Manchester United have not ruled out letting Marcus Rashford leave this summer, and Arsenal have emerged as the most credible Premier League destination. Barcelona are also tracking the England forward, adding another layer of complexity to a potential deal. The situation reflects United’s need to reshape under Erik ten Hag, with Rashford’s long-term role at the club now in question. Arsenal’s pursuit signals their ambition to bolster their attacking options before the window shuts, though no formal bid has yet been tabled.

Chelsea’s midfield reshuffle targets Monaco’s Camara

Chelsea are eyeing Monaco’s Lamine Camara, 22, as a potential successor to Enzo Fernández. The Senegal international has impressed in Ligue 1 this season, contributing two goals and three assists in his last five appearances for Monaco. His profile fits Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield plans, with the Blues seeking a dynamic, box-to-box presence to complement Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher. Monaco’s reluctance to lose him is understandable, but the Blues’ pursuit adds another dimension to their summer overhaul. The move would also free up funds for further recruitment as Chelsea aim to balance their books following their £120m deal for Enzo Fernández.

Valencia’s late push for Harvey Elliott, 23, on loan from Liverpool, adds another Premier League side to the mix. The Spain-based club are in advanced talks to secure the England midfielder, who remains a key part of Liverpool’s squad under Arne Slot. Elliott’s potential move to La Liga would be a significant step in his development, though Liverpool may resist unless the terms are right. Valencia’s interest follows their recent recruitment of Gonçalo Guedes and Marcos André, as they look to strengthen their attacking options under Rubén Baraja.

Alvarez saga intensifies as City re-enter the race

Julian Álvarez’s transfer limbo has taken another turn, with Manchester City now weighing up a return for the Argentina striker. Arsenal remain in the hunt, but Atletico Madrid have dug in their heels, refusing to sell to Barcelona. The situation has left Álvarez in an uncertain position, with a deadline of Sunday to decide his future. Diego Simeone has insisted he wants to keep the forward, but Álvarez’s absence from training suggests his mind is elsewhere.

City’s potential involvement complicates matters further. They signed Álvarez from Atletico in 2024 for £81m but offloaded Omar Marmoush and Savio to Tottenham for a combined £135m, freeing up funds. Simeone’s comments—”From the moment he returns to training, I will do everything I can to make him feel important”—hint at a fragile truce, but time is running out. City’s interest, reported by Marca, could force Atletico to reconsider their stance if they receive a bid that meets their valuation of €150m (£128m).

Villa’s double swoop and long-term vision

Aston Villa have moved decisively to secure two young talents, agreeing a £47m deal for 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain. The Senegalese winger was previously linked with Liverpool, but Villa’s intervention underscores their ambition to build a squad capable of challenging for European football. The club’s willingness to pay a premium for raw talent reflects their long-term project under Unai Emery, who has overseen a clear strategy: invest in youth while maintaining Premier League competitiveness.

Villa’s other target, Nicolas Jackson, has been finalised from Chelsea, adding firepower to their attack. The 22-year-old forward scored 13 goals in 28 Premier League appearances last season and has been earmarked as a long-term successor to Ollie Watkins. The signings, combined with their ongoing recruitment, suggest a clear strategy: invest in youth while maintaining Premier League competitiveness. The next few days will reveal whether they can complete further deals before the deadline.

The transfer window’s final stretch is defined by urgency and uncertainty. Clubs are making calculated gambles, whether it’s Arsenal’s Rashford pursuit, Chelsea’s Camara chase, or Valencia’s Elliott loan bid. The next 72 hours will determine which moves come to fruition—and which dreams remain just that.
