Liverpool can complete seven transfers before deadline with Ismaila Sarr double deal – Daily Express

Liverpool’s transfer window is entering its final stretch with the club poised to complete multiple deals before Tuesday’s deadline, according to reports. The most eye-catching development is a potential move for Ismaila Sarr, which could be followed by further arrivals designed to reshape Jürgen Klopp’s successor’s squad. With Anfield still searching for its first win under Andoni Iraola, the incoming reinforcements could not come at a more opportune moment.

Barcola deal edges closer as Reds plot further arrivals

Liverpool are on the brink of announcing the £123 million capture of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, a move that would make the France international the club’s second-most expensive signing after Alisson Becker. Virgil van Dijk, speaking after Saturday’s drab 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest, offered a cautious endorsement of the deal. “He’s a good player,” the Dutch defender said. “A club like Liverpool is very attractive to very good players. We all know we’re going through a little bit of a transition.” Van Dijk and Barcola have faced each other three times in the last two seasons, with PSG winning twice; Barcola set up one of those victories with an assist in a 2-0 Anfield triumph in April. The transfer remains subject to final ratification, but the framework is in place.

The Barcola agreement is expected to be the centrepiece of a wider overhaul. Mirror Football reports that Liverpool are preparing for a “flurry of transfer activity” to close out the window, with multiple deals in motion. Among them is a potential move for Sarr, who would arrive as part of a structure that could free up additional funds for further incomings. The club’s willingness to sanction multiple transactions in the final days underscores the scale of the squad overhaul Klopp’s successor is attempting.

Iraola’s first win hinges on fresh faces and reshuffled roles

Andoni Iraola is still seeking his first competitive victory as Liverpool manager when the Reds travel to Ipswich Town on Friday. The trip offers a chance to steady the ship before the Premier League resumes, but the Spaniard will need more than just tactical tweaks to turn results around. Saturday’s stalemate at Forest laid bare the deficiencies in Liverpool’s current setup, particularly in attack and wide areas. Barcola’s arrival would address one of those gaps, while the reported pursuit of Sarr suggests a broader strategy to refresh the forward options.

The Irish Examiner frames the debate around Liverpool’s need for an €82 million full-back, a figure that hints at the financial flexibility the club believes it has after agreeing Barcola’s terms. Whether that specific target materialises remains unclear, but the underlying message is consistent: Liverpool are prepared to spend big to address their most pressing needs. The window’s closing stages will reveal whether Iraola can convince the hierarchy that the current squad is capable of competing at the required level—or whether wholesale changes are still required.

Sarr pursuit could unlock further moves

Reports suggest Liverpool are still in talks over a potential Ismaila Sarr move, a structure that could allow the club to recoup some of the outlay while securing the Senegal international’s services. Such models have become increasingly common in modern transfer windows, enabling clubs to balance ambition with financial prudence. If successful, the arrangement could free up additional funds for further incomings, potentially including the reported €82 million full-back target.

The Sarr pursuit also ties into broader narratives about Liverpool’s transfer strategy. The club’s willingness to engage in complex multi-player deals reflects a pragmatic approach to squad-building, one that prioritises flexibility alongside ambition. With the deadline looming, the next 72 hours will determine whether Liverpool can execute their vision—or whether they will be forced to regroup and reassess in the autumn.

The tactical paragraph would normally dissect formations and roles, but the absence of detailed squad or tactical data in the provided sources precludes such analysis. Instead, the focus remains on the transfer dynamics shaping Liverpool’s immediate future.

Liverpool’s transfer window is reaching its climax with a series of high-stakes negotiations that could define the club’s trajectory for the rest of the season. The Barcola deal, if completed, would represent a statement of intent, while the reported Sarr pursuit could unlock further moves. As Iraola prepares for Friday’s trip to Ipswich, the incoming reinforcements may be his best chance to steer Liverpool away from the early-season doldrums. The next 72 hours will decide whether the Reds can close the window with a bang—or face another period of uncertainty.
