Man Utd news: Bayern Munich star’s transfer stance clear as defender ‘begs to join big club’

Manchester United’s transfer window has taken another twist, with Michael Carrick’s rebuilding project gathering pace even as key targets slip through their fingers. The club have completed several moves in recent weeks, but the final weeks of the window are set to test their resolve as they chase a third midfielder and weigh up defensive reinforcements. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae has made it clear he is not for sale, dashing United’s hopes of securing a marquee defender.

Kim Min-jae rules out Manchester United move as Bayern stand firm

United’s interest in Kim Min-jae has been well-documented since his time at Napoli, but the South Korea international has now confirmed he is determined to fight for his place at Bayern Munich. Speaking to reporters, he said: “As a player, just to be with a team like Bayern Munich is a blessing. Last season, I thought I played a lot of matches. I am competing as the third defender [behind Upamecano and Tah], and I know I have no choice but to work hard.”

Bayern manager Vincent Kompany echoed the defender’s stance, emphasising the value of competition within the squad. “The main thing is to have the quality. Then afterwards, it is for them to compete to prove on the pitch,” Kompany said. “What I will give a compliment to Min-jae [about] is that no matter what, he keeps the focus, and he does the talking on the pitch.”

With United now shifting their focus elsewhere, the club’s defensive options remain a talking point. Carrick has already overseen a midfield rebuild, bringing in Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, but the need for further squad depth persists. A reported interest in Newcastle’s Lewis Hall has gained traction, though the Magpies’ left-back has rejected a return to Chelsea, leaving the door ajar for United.

Lewis Hall emerges as Carrick’s next priority amid defensive uncertainty

United’s pursuit of Lewis Hall has intensified following Eddie Howe’s departure from Newcastle, with the 20-year-old left-back now a prime target. The Mirror has reported that Hall has rejected a move back to Chelsea, a decision that could clear the way for United to step in. Carrick’s side are looking to add a third midfielder after Tielemans and Santos, but defensive reinforcements remain a priority.

Radek Vitek’s exclusion from United’s pre-season friendly against Atlético Madrid signalled a potential shift in goalkeeping options, with the club edging closer to a deal for the Czech goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Karl Darlow has been identified as a shrewd backup option, though his arrival would not address the defensive concerns that persist.

The club’s women’s team is also undergoing change, with Eva Olid set to be appointed as the new head coach following Marc Skinner’s departure. Manchester United in talks with former Hearts manager Eva Olid as new head coach.

Arsenal steal the transfer headlines as United’s window stalls

While United grapple with their defensive and midfield options, Arsenal have stolen the transfer spotlight. The Gunners are reportedly on the brink of signing Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle, with Vinícius Júnior also a potential target should his Real Madrid contract talks stall. United, meanwhile, remain in the hunt for a third midfielder but face stiff competition from other clubs.

Liverpool’s reported interest in Bradley Barcola adds another layer to the Premier League’s transfer chessboard, while Tottenham’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen underscores the high stakes in this final window push. United’s ability to navigate these challenges will define their summer narrative.

Carrick’s project is taking shape, but the next fortnight will determine whether United can secure the reinforcements they need. With Kim Min-jae out of reach and Hall’s future finely poised, the club must act decisively to avoid another window of missed opportunities. The pressure is on, and the clock is ticking.
